SYLLABUS & ETIQUETTE

 

 

Age range: & belts system colours

10-  16 CADETS: Belt with one black strip on one end.

16 + … ADULTS ( -18 y.o. group assignment with the consent of parents or guardians).

7'th KYU - The Red Belt with ONE BLACK strip on one end.

 

Earlier techniques, and the etiquette of the dojo.

KOHO UKEMI - cradle backwards from standing position to the pad with a tap on

mats with both palms.

USHIRO UKEMI -backward roll.

OKURI ASHI - adding step to step.

UKE – attacker.

TORI – defender / person performing the technique.

Meaning of the AI KI DO inscription.

6'th KYU – The Red belt.

 

Etiquette of the dojo.

TAI SABAKI – 180 degree rotation through the back.

TENKAN – 180 degree rotation forwards.

AI HANMI KATATEDORI – diagonal handle (right to right or left to left).

KATATEDORI – handle on the same side (left to right or right to left).

KATADORI - Shoulder grip.

SHOMEN UCHI - cutting from overhead down.

YOKOMEN UCHI – oblique blow from overhead down.

TENCHI NAGE – step beyond the attacker into the simultaneous spreading of the arms up and down.

RYOTEDORI IRIMI & TENKAN

 

Student must demonstrate proper posture and execution when performing the techniques.

5'th Kyu – The Yellow belt.

 

Earlier techniques, plus:

CHUDAN TSUKI – blow to the solar plexus.

IKKYO -grip the elbow and wrist with both hands.

NIKKYO – handle arm with both hands with the so-called "screwing the towel".

SANKYO – grip at the base of the thumb and the edge of the hand.

SHIHO NAGE – extending the UKE arm to the side and passing under it.

4'th Kyu – The Orange belt.

 

Earlier techniques, plus:

 

USHIRO KATADORI – both hands grasp the shoulders behind.

KAITEN NAGE:

                               - UCHI- passage under the arm of UKE.

                                - SOTO- bypass to the side with holding the UKE arm.

IRIMI NAGE:

                            JODAN TSUKI.

                            CHUDAN TSUKI.

                            USHIRO RYO:   HIJIDORI & KATADORI

KOTE GAESHI – TAI SABAKI plus SANKYO

MUNEDORI – a handle on the top of the clothes.

HIJIDORI – elbow grip.

RYOTEDORI – grip on both wrists.

KATATE RYOTEDORI – two hands grasp one forearm.

RYO KATADORI – handle on both arms (front or rear).

RYO HIJIDORI – grip on both elbows.

KATATE KATADORI – grip on the elbow and forearm.

YONKYO - lever on the elbow.

MUNE TSUKI –  blow to the upper torso.
